DANDADAN Kakejiku

DANDADAN Kakejiku

Wall scrolls are traditional Japanese interior decorations that delight the eyes of residents and visitors alike.
Kaitakudo Art Co., Ltd. has been carrying on this culture for many years with reliable skills in the manufacture and restoration of wall scrolls. They have painted everything from flower and bird paintings to portraits and even anime characters with precise brushwork and a deep interpretation from a fan’s perspective. Now, along with Japanese painter Kazufumi Nishijima, they have created a special wall scroll of anime "DAN DA DAN".

Product Details

Taking advantage of the long, vertical format characteristic of wall scrolls, this is a masterpiece that expresses the sense of speed of the work and the dynamism of the two main characters, Momo and Okarun, by making full use of techniques specific to sumi-e (painting using ink).

The wall scrolls are available in two models: a Special Ver. that comes in a special paulownia box and is an impressive large size with a total length of 190 cm, and a Standard Ver. that is a relatively compact, easy-to-display small size with a total length of 140 cm that comes in a paper box.

Why not acquire a work of art that is as much a treasure as DAN DA DAN through this wall scroll, which can be protected by being rolled up compactly and passed down to future generations?

Behind the Scenes of the DAN DA DAN Kakejiku Wall Scroll

We spoke with Kazufumi Nishijima about the art of wall scrolls.

Nishijima Kazufumi
Japanese Paint Artist

Born in 1969, Gifu Prefecture.
Having been interested in Japanese painting since childhood, Nishijima made his debut as a Nihonga (Japanese-style painting) painter in 1988. Currently active as an independent Nihonga artist unaffiliated with any group, he specializes particularly in kachōga (paintings of flowers and birds) and figure painting. Over many years, he has produced kakejiku (hanging scroll) artworks characterized by detailed outlines and bold brushwork.
With deep reverence for their subjects, he combines realistic expression with a unique perspective, skillfully employing traditional Japanese painting techniques in the pursuit of new forms of expression. In recent years, he has taken on modern themes such as pop culture and film. His innovative approach—such as depicting anime and tokusatsu (special effects) works using traditional ink wash techniques—has been highly praised.
Drawing on years of experience, he highlights a high level of technical mastery, redefining the appeal of Nihonga and its works for the contemporary era.
